INTRODUCING ENZYMES FOR INNOVATION
We are pleased to introduce our Enzymes for Innovation initiative novel enzymes with unique activities for manipulating DNA, RNA, proteins and glycans. While specific applications for these enzymes may have yet to be discovered, it is our hope that by engaging researchers' imaginations, we will enable the development of new molecular techniques that so often lead to new discoveries.
Video_RichardRoberts.jpgWhat are Enzymes for Innovation? NEBs Chief Scientific Officer, Sir Richard Roberts, describes the Enzymes for Innovation initiative, and the importance of new enzyme discovery and screening.

NAME NEB# ACTIVITY
5-hydroxymethyluridine DNA Kinase M0659 5-HMUDK mechanism

5-hydroxymethyluridine DNA Kinase (5-HMUDK) transfers the gamma phosphate from ATP to the hydroxymethyl moiety of 5-hydroxymethyluridine in polymeric DNA.
EcoGII Methyltransferase M0603 EFI_EcoGII_Methyltransferase

EcoGII Methyltransferase is a non-specific methyltransferase that modifies adenine residues (N6) in any sequence context.
Endoglycoceramidase I (EGCase I) P0773 EFI_EGCaseI

Catalyzes the hydrolysis of the β-glycosidic linkage between oligosaccharides and ceramides in various glycosphingolipids.
Nb.BssSI R0681 EFI_NbBssSI

Generates a nick in the 3´ strand at the following recognition site: CACGAG (none/-1).
RtcB Ligase M0458 EFI_RtcBligase

Joins single-stranded RNA with a 3´-phosphate or 2´,3´-cyclic phosphate to another RNA with a 5´ -hydroxyl.
TelN Protelomerase M0651 EFI_TelN_Protelomerase

Cuts dsDNA at a TelN recognition sequence (56 bp) and leaves covalently closed ends at the site of cleavage.
Thermostable FEN1 M0645 EFI_ThermostableFEN1

Catalyzes the cleavage of 5´ DNA flaps from branched double-stranded DNA substrates.
